Throughout the week of March 21st, 2016, Barletta Heavy Division (BHD), MassDOT’s contractor for the Route 128 Add-a-Lane Bridge V project, will continue construction operations. Work will be performed project-wide during the standard working hours of 7:00AM to 3:00PM.
The week of the 21st also marks the restart of third shift during hours of 7:00PM and 5:00AM as was noted in the look ahead for the week of the 14th.
- At Kendrick Street, work will continue on the new bridge and on/off ramps, focusing on the construction of the retaining walls. After preparation of the crane pad, structural steel will be erected overnight over the course of the week. On March 25th, abutment walls will be waterproofed.
- At Highland Avenue, Verizon will conduct wire installation and cutovers. The barrier along the Highland Avenue median will be installed overnight on March 22nd and 23rd. On the Highland Avenue Bridge, steel deck reinforcements will be installed.
- At Central Avenue, grading for brace installation will be conducted overnight on March 24th.
- At Route 9, work will focus on excavating drainage swale and installation of MSE (mechanically stabilized earth) wall panels, and installation of new bridge foundation elements.
BHD will be closing lanes during off-peak hours to continue construction of all bridges. Lane closures are permitted and are necessary to create a safe work zone; drivers are asked to be aware of possible lane closures for their own safety and that of the project team. Please also note that all work is contingent upon the weather.
