Throughout the week of March 28st, 2016, Barletta Heavy Division (BHD), MassDOT’s contractor for the Route 128 Add-a-Lane Bridge V project, will continue construction operations. Work will be performed project-wide during the standard working hours of 7:00AM to 3:00PM.
The week of the 28th also includes third shift work during the hours of 7:00PM and 5:00AM as was noted in the look-aheads for the week of the 14th and 21st. We anticipate night work at Kendrick Street concluding April 16th.
- At Kendrick Street, work will continue on the new bridge and on/off ramps, focusing on the construction of the retaining walls, reinforcing of diaphragms, and backfilling of abutments. Abutments will also receive water proofing. Structural steel will continue to be erected and lagging will be installed overnight over the course of the week.
- At Highland Avenue, Verizon will continue cable installation. On the Highland Avenue Bridge, steel deck reinforcement installation will continue.
- At Central Avenue, backfilling of the new arch will be conducted overnight on March 28th, and bracing will be installed throughout the week. The new arch will be poured in April.
- At Route 9, work will focus on site grading around ramp W3 (I-95 NB to Route 9 EB) and installation of MSE (mechanically stabilized earth) wall panels. During third shift on March 31st, ramp W1/W2 (Route 9 to I-95 NB and I-95 NB to Route 9 WB) traffic will be relocated to the new alignment.
BHD will be closing lanes during off-peak hours to continue construction of all bridges. Lane closures are permitted and are necessary to create a safe work zone; drivers are asked to be aware of possible lane closures for their own safety and that of the project team. Please also note that all work is contingent upon the weather.
