Representative Denise Garlick is pleased to offer part-time internships at her State House office.
Individuals will gain first-hand knowledge of the legislative process and gain valuable work experience while interning in the office. At the State House, interns may be asked to do a myriad of tasks, including researching legislative and budget issues, communicating with constituents, drafting correspondence, and performing administrative duties. The Representative and staff work to ensure that tasks and projects align with the each intern’s personal interests. Staff will also serve as mentors to each individual to ensure positive participation in the legislative process and public service.
Interns will have the opportunity to attend bill hearings, legislative briefings, and other events happening around the State House. Interns that join us during the summer months will have the opportunity to attend the Summer Speaker Series, hearing from past and present legislators, lobbyists, advocates and state officials.
Summer internships generally run for the months of June and July. Representative Garlick also offers internships from September to May. The hours are flexible to accommodate individuals’ other commitments. The office does require interns to have received their high school diploma.
