I have been working hard to deliver results for our community, and am looking forward to sharing the 2016 year in review and 2017 year in preview. Add-A-Lane Contract V along a Section of Interstate 95 Includes 6 Bridges
Period of December 16th to December 23rd
Throughout the week of December 19th, 2016, Barletta Heavy Division (BHD), MassDOT’s contractor for the Route 128 Add-a-Lane Bridge V project, will continue construction operations. Work will be performed project-wide during the standard working hours of 7:00AM to 3:00PM. Third shift work will occur at Route 9.
At Kendrick Street, installing steel angle for barrier retrofit south of the Kendrick Street Bridge will occur throughout the week, in addition to prepping and installing noise wall panels from Kendrick Street to Highland Avenue.
At Highland Avenue, work will include forming, pouring, and stripping of pier 1 cap (Tuesday December 20th), pier 2 cap (Monday through Thursday, December 19th through 22nd), and east abutment (throughout the week). Miscellaneous drainage installation will also occur throughout the week.
From Highland Avenue to Central Avenue, project team members will complete benching for soldier piles and test pits install the test pits on the Northbound side throughout the week. In addition, work will include completion of bench for the soldier pits and test piles on the southbound side on Monday and Tuesday, December 19th and 20th. Demolition of the Northbound railroad bridge abutment will be completed Monday and Tuesday December 19th and 20th, and the corresponding southbound bridge abutment demolition will be completed Wednesday and Thursday December 21st and 22nd.
At Route 9, installation of drilled shafts and drainage along the mainline median will occur all week. Excavation of the south abutment and Support of Excavation (SOE) materials will also occur throughout the week. North and South abutment demolition will occur during third shift hours from Monday December 19th through Thursday December 22nd. Activities during these work hours will include localized demolition of the concrete, including jack hammering and saw cutting, and removal of steel. Noise levels will be monitored during the work. BHD will implement appropriate noise control measures as needed. Demolition operations at Route 9 will be completed during the week covered by this look-ahead.
BHD will be closing lanes during off-peak hours to continue construction of all bridges. Lane closures are permitted and are necessary to create a safe work zone; drivers are asked to be aware of possible lane closures for their own safety and that of the project team. Please also note that all work is contingent upon the weather.

The weekend of the 11th also includes third shift work between the hours of 7:00PM and 5:00AM at Central Avenue.
At Kendrick Street, installation of the median barrier south of the Kendrick Street median will occur throughout the week.
At Highland Avenue, forming and reinforcing of the west abutment wall will occur Monday through Wednesday, November 14th through 16th, followed by pouring of the wall on Thursday November 17th. Forming and reinforcing of the east abutment footing will occur Monday through Thursday, and pouring will occur on Friday. Excavation and prep for pier footings will occur throughout the week.
From Kendrick Street to the Highland Avenue median, the project team will be installing drainage along the Southbound platform, and installing guardrail between Kendrick and Highland on both Northbound and Southbound sides throughout the week.
At Central Avenue, night work will include removal of the existing guardrail and setting up the work zone along Northbound shoulder, and installation of temporary barrier along the southbound shoulder on Monday and Tuesday, November 14th and 15th. Night work will also include removal of existing guardrail and setting up the work zone on the southbound shoulder on Wednesday and Thursday (November 16th and 17th).
At Route 9, the week of November 14th will include demolition for installation of approach slab for Support of Excavation (SOE), installation of Stage 2 SOE, and excavation for Stage 2 SOE.
BHD will be closing lanes during off-peak hours to continue construction of all bridges.
