Week of October 19, 2015
Throughout the week of October 19, 2015, Barletta Heavy Division (BHD), MassDOT’s contractor for the Route 128 Add-a-Lane Bridge V project, will continue construction operations. Day shift work will be performed project-wide during the standard working hours of 7:00AM to 3:00PM. Third shift work will be performed during the hours of 7:00PM to 5:00AM at Highland Avenue and along the mainline.
At Kendrick Street, work will focus on forming, reinforcing and pouring wall H moment slabs, forming and reinforcing the sidewalk, and forming and reinforcing the barrier. On Friday, October 23, the approach slabs will be poured. At K1, work will include full depth construction along the K2 ramp and installing the subdrain along K2. At Central Avenue, work will focus on forming and reinforcing walls. On Monday, October 19, work will include pouring the wall footings.
At Highland Avenue, work will concentrate on installing structural steel, which will happen during both the day shifts and third shifts. Day work will also include installing drainage at the east abutment to ramp H4.
Along the mainline, day shift work will focus on installing the permanent median barrier south of Kendrick Street. Installation of anti-glare paddles will take place during both the day shifts and third shifts. During the third shift on October 19 and 20, work will include paving the median from the railroad bridge to Central Avenue. During the third shift on October 21 and 22, work will include paving the crossover north of Route 9.
Looking ahead, it should be noted that during the weekend of November 6 to 8, work will include paving and swapping traffic at Kendrick Street. During the weekend of November 13 to 15, the crossover will be implemented.
