Throughout the week of February 8th, 2016, Barletta Heavy Division (BHD), MassDOT’s contractor for the Route 128 Add-a-Lane Bridge V project, will continue construction operations. Day shift work will be performed project-wide during the standard working hours of 7:00AM to 3:00PM.
At Kendrick Street, work throughout the week will consist of retaining wall installation. Work on Monday, February 8th will include pouring the pier footing and the first west abutment wall. Following the completion of these steps, work from Tuesday, February 9th to Friday, February 12th will include forming and reinforcing the pier column and the second west abutment wall.
Demolition work on both Kendrick St. and Stage 1 Route 9 are complete. On Thursday, February 11th and Friday, February 12th, work will focus on prepping the east abutment footing during the day.
- At the K1 Ramp, work will consist of installing overhang brackets and barriers.
- Work at Central Avenue will focus on pouring the Central Avenue arch.
- At Route 9, work will consist of H-pile installation and construction of the new bridge abutments.
BHD will be taking lane closures during off-peak hours to continue construction of all bridges. Lane closures are permitted and are necessary to create a safe work zone; drivers are asked to be aware of possible lane closures for their own safety and that of the project team. Please also note that all work is contingent upon the weather.
