Throughout the week of August 15th, 2016, Barletta Heavy Division (BHD), MassDOT’s contractor for the Route 128 Add-a-Lane Bridge V project, will continue construction operations. Work will be performed project-wide during the standard working hours of 7:00AM to 3:00PM.
The week of the 15th also includes third shift work between the hours of 7:00PM and 5:00AM at Kendrick Street and Highland Avenue.
At Kendrick Street, night work will consist of permanent striping, installation of signage (Tuesday and Wednesday August 16th and 17th), and uncovering signs and activating permanent signals (Friday August 19th). At Ramp K4 (I-95 Southbound to Kendrick Street Westbound), installation of wall panels and permanent striping and reflectors will occur. At Ramp K1 (Kendrick Street Westbound to I-95 Northbound), forming, reinforcing, and pouring of bridge barrier will be occur. At Ramp K3 (I-95 Northbound to Kendrick Street Eastbound), permanent striping and reflectors will be installed. All signs will be uncovered and permanent signs activated during night work on Friday August 19th.
At Highland Avenue, work will consist of installation of curbing along the eastbound lane and bridge screen throughout the week. Work will also include installation of northbound timber piles, LTP, and geofabric. Relocation of Verizon utilities will continue. Night work will consist of installation of temporary line striping on the bridge and roadway on Thursday August 18th, and rerouting traffic from ramp H4 (Highland Eastbound to I-95 Northbound) over the Highland Avenue bridge on Friday August 19th.
At Central Avenue and the Railroad Bridge, forming, reinforcing, and pouring approach slab will occur throughout the week, in addition to construction of the median between Highland Avenue and the Railroad Bridge.
At Route 9, installation of mechanically stabilized earth wall, deck reinforcement, drainage along the northbound shoulder, and roadway grading along the ledge cut and ramp W2 (I-95 Northbound to Route 9 Westbound) will occur. Work will also consist of removal of the ledge cut throughout the week.
On the I-95 mainline, installation of drainage crossings will occur Monday through Thursday, August 8th through 11th.
BHD will be closing lanes during off-peak hours to continue construction of all bridges. Lane closures are permitted and are necessary to create a safe work zone; drivers are asked to be aware of possible lane closures for their own safety and that of the project team.
