Throughout the week of March 14th, 2016, Barletta Heavy Division (BHD), MassDOT’s contractor for the Route 128 Add-a-Lane Bridge V project, will continue construction operations. Work will be performed project-wide during the standard working hours of 7:00AM to 3:00PM.
Please note that starting March 21st, overnight work will commence at Kendrick Street in order to erect structural steel. On March 31st, overnight work will take place at Route 9 in order to relocate ramp W1/W2 traffic. More information on these operations will follow as the dates get closer.
- At Kendrick Street, work will continue on the new bridge and on/off ramps, focusing on the construction of the retaining and abutment walls. At the ramp from Kendrick St. to I-95 NB (K1), work will consist of installing shear studs.
- At Highland Avenue, Verizon will conduct utilities work. On the Highland Avenue Bridge, shear studs and deck reinforcing will be installed, and diaphragms will be formed and reinforced.
- At Route 9, work will focus on grading Ramp W3 (connecting Route 9 to Route 128), installation of MSE (mechanically stabilized earth) wall panels, and installation of new bridge foundation elements. Site drainage work will continue.
- On the I-95 mainline, work will consist of removal of the ledge.
BHD will be closing lanes during off-peak hours to continue construction of all bridges. Lane closures are permitted and are necessary to create a safe work zone; drivers are asked to be aware of possible lane closures for their own safety and that of the project team. Please also note that all work is contingent upon the weather.
