Throughout the week of December 14th, 2015, Barletta Heavy Division (BHD), MassDOT’s contractor for the Route 128 Add-a-Lane Bridge V project, will continue construction operations. Day shift work will be performed project-wide during both the standard working hours of 7:00AM to 3:00PM and during the third shift work hours of 7:00PM to 5:00AM.
At Kendrick Street, work during the day will consist of installing the retaining wall, wall excavation, and the installation of leveling pads and wall F. Demolition of the existing Kendrick Street bridge deck will re-commence on Monday, December 14th and continue throughout the week during the third shifts.
At K1, work will include installing the deck pan as well as the installation of scuppers and drainage.
At Highland Avenue, work will be conducted throughout the week to install noise wall posts and structural steel. On Monday, December 14th, ramp H5, from Highland Avenue onto Route 128/I-95 southbound, will be opened to traffic.
At Central Avenue, work will be conducted during both the day and third shifts to form and reinforce the arch.
At Route 9, demolition will commence on Monday, December 15th and will continue during the third shifts throughout the week. During the day shifts, work will focus on constructing ramps and installing drainage.
Along the mainline, work will focus on installing drainage south of the Kendrick Street median.
During the third shift demolition operations at Kendrick Street and Route 9, BHD will be taking lane closures, beginning the night of Monday, December 7th. Nighttime lane closures are permitted and are necessary to create a safe work zone; drivers are asked to be aware of possible lane closures for their own safety and that of the project team.
Clearing and grubbing work will continue along I-95 northbound adjacent to Reservoir Street, Reservoir Avenue, and Carter Street. This work is required in preparation for the installation of noise walls between Central Avenue and Route 9. Please note that machinery will need to utilize the current MassDOT easement along the rear of the abutters’ yards to access the work.
