Add-A-Lane Contract V along a Section of Interstate 95 Includes 6 Bridges
Period of February 24th to March 3rd
Throughout the week of February 27th, 2017, Barletta Heavy Division (BHD), MassDOT’s contractor for the I-95/Route 128 Add-a-Lane Bridge V project, will continue construction operations. Work will be performed project-wide during the standard working hours of 7:00AM to 3:00PM. All project work is currently underway within the Town of Needham, except at the I-95/Route 9 Interchange which is located in Wellesley.
At Kendrick Street, forming, reinforcing, and pouring of cast-in-place barrier south of the Kendrick Street median, as well as installation of noise wall panels from Kendrick Street to Highland Avenue will occur all week. Noise wall installation is continuing this week.
At Highland Avenue, project team members will install deck pans, overhang brackets, and drainage throughout the week.
From Highland Avenue to Central Avenue, work will include installation of retaining wall piles throughout the week. In addition, construction of ramp H3 (I-95 Northbound to Highland Avenue Eastbound) and the dry water quality swale will occur throughout the week. Project team members will also be excavating Central Avenue wingwalls as well as forming, reinforcing, and pouring the Northwest wingwall footing, and drilling and chipping the southbound ledge cut all week.
At Route 9, work will include drainage along Route 9 and forming, and reinforcing of pier footing and pier columns, occurring throughout the week. Prepping for precast abutments will occur on Monday, February 27th, and installation of precast abutments will occur on Tuesday, February 28th. Pouring of pier footing will occur on Friday, March 3rd.
BHD will be closing lanes during off-peak hours to continue construction of all bridges. Lane closures are necessary to create a safe work zone; drivers are asked to be aware of possible lane closures for their own safety and that of the project team. Please also note that all work is contingent upon the weather.
