Throughout the week of December 28th, 2015, Barletta Heavy Division (BHD), MassDOT’s contractor for the Route 128 Add-a-Lane Bridge V project, will continue construction operations. Day shift work will be performed project-wide during both the standard working hours of 7:00AM to 3:00PM and during the third shift work hours of 7:00PM to 5:00AM. No work will be conducted on Friday, January 1st.
At Kendrick Street, work during the day will consist of installing the retaining wall, wall excavation, and the wall installation. Work will also include the excavation of the Kendrick Street pier. Demolition of the existing Kendrick Street bridge deck will continue from Monday, December 28th to Wednesday, December 30th during the third shifts.
- At K1, work will include forming, reinforcing and pouring wall barriers, as well as the installation of scuppers and drainage.
- At Highland Avenue, work will be conducted throughout the week to install noise wall. Work will be conducted to form, reinforce and pour the wingwalls.
- At Central Avenue, work will be conducted during both the day and third shifts to form and reinforce the arch.
Work at Route 9 during the day shifts will focus on constructing ramps and installing drainage. Demolition of the eastern side of Route 128/I-95 over Route 9 (northbound towards Washington Street) will continue during the third shifts from Monday, December 28th to Wednesday, December 30th.
- Along the mainline, work will focus on installing drainage south of the Kendrick Street median.
During the third shift demolition operations at Kendrick Street and Route 128/I-95 over Route 9, BHD will be taking lane closures. Nighttime lane closures are permitted and are necessary to create a safe work zone; drivers are asked to be aware of possible lane closures for their own safety and that of the project team.
Clearing and grubbing work will continue along I-95 northbound adjacent to Reservoir Street, Reservoir Avenue, and Carter Street. This work is required in preparation for the installation of noise walls between Central Avenue and Route 9. Please note that machinery will need to utilize the current MassDOT easement along the rear of the abutters’ yards to access the work.
